Les Miserables: Movie Review

So I went to see Les Mis, and honestly, I wasn't too sure on if I was going to like it. My friend convinced me to see the musical live last year, and I'm a huge musical fan (I love Next to Normal, Wicked, Beauty and the Beast, My Fair Lady, Sound of Music, Grease, South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Phantom of the Opera, Avenue Q, and a ton more!), but I was truly dissapointed with it. I went without knowing the story to begin with and so it was really difficult to follow along, much longer than I expected, and most of the time I just didn't know what they were saying (which now I think was just because we had really cheap seats so we were mostly hearing the echo). So needless to say, I was pretty sad that I just didn't really like this musical, aside from the three main songs everyone knows: I Dreamed a Dream, On My Own, and Empty Chairs at Empty Tables.
After seeing the movie, actually seeing and understanding all of the story lines, my opinion has completely changed and now I want to see the musical live again, it's actually coming to my hometown again in February. I think Anne Hathaway was amazing, I really felt her pain. Hugh Jackman was pretty good too. I was soooo excited to see Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, I think he is fantastic! I also thought Eddie Redmayne (Marius) was really good. As for Amanda Seyfried and Russell Crowe.....I wasn't feeling the love so much, and I'll leave it there, in case other people really liked them.
Did you see Les Mis? What did you think?

"F#@k I'm In My Twenties"

My best friend Michelle bought me this book written by Emma Koenig for Christmas, and I read through it in just 2 hours. I thought it was absolutely hilarious, terribly sad, and for the most part really true. I feel like it really did cover pretty much everything my friends and I talk about all the time, whether it be looking for jobs/internships during and after college, moving out, relationships. I think it actually was pretty funny and it made me feel a bit less crazy haha. I definitely suggest reading it, or reading the blog it originated from. It'll definitely make your day!

P.S. I'm sorry I haven't actually been posting other than Saturday Sounds. I just started a new job and grad school and got a little busy, but I'll definitely try to keep up and make things more interesting around here!

Saturday Sounds #3

First Saturday Sounds of 2013! For this I'm going to share a song which for some reason always reminds me of the new year, though it really doesn't have anything to do with New Year's. I've seen Airborne Toxic Event twice live and they play the best live shows, if they ever come to your city, check them out!
