Thoughts on Blogging

Over the past few months that I have been blogging, I have realized some things about blogging and I wanted to share a few of my thoughts.

I've been reading blogs since my freshman year of college, so about five years, and I was fascinated by them. In the beginning I mainly read fashion blogs like Liebmarlene and Delightfully Tacky. I always really wanted to have my own fashion blog, but out of fear and doubting myself I simply read and still read many different blogs. Along with fashion, I now read advice, mommy, baking/cooking, music, and lifestyle blogs, and I love all of them. I think it's amazing that we can all share things that we love with readers and find others who have unique shared interests which is something we may not have "in real life".

I finally got the courage to actually start a blog early last year, and I did, but I stopped and deleted that blog after about a month. I was afraid that what I had to say was boring or not what people wanted to read, and that there was just no way that anyone could want to read something I wrote. I was so worried about others and what they would think that I did not write what I wanted to write. I actually really like just writing in general. I used to write stories and things when I was younger but I didn't share for this same feeling of it not being good enough.

I've realized that blogging is difficult. It's sort of like a second job really, but a job that you really really enjoy. Designing your blog, creating good content, making a schedule, trying to promote your blog, these are all things I did not really think about before. I realize now how great it feels when someone comments on your post. I used to be a ghost follower of many blogs, I didn't actually follow them or comment ever, and now I make sure to try and comment on almost every post that I read, and if I find a great new blog I definitely follow. It makes you feel like you're not just talking to a wall, and it makes you feel good about what you're doing.

Now I really love blogging and being able to share little bits of my life with you ladies. I don't know where I want to take this blog, as I intended to start a fashion blog but I never actually got around to it. My blog has taken a turn I guess to just life? Even so, I will just continue to share movies and music, my occasional baking attempts, and sometimes fun things I do with my friends. I would also like to do more posts like this, where I just write my thoughts on a subject. I don't really know where I'm going with this little blog of mine, if I actually fall into a category of type of blog, or if it even really matters. I just know I'm really happy that I finally got started and feel like I have a little place of my own in the blogosphere.

I'd like to know from you guys what is your experience as a new blogger and if you are a more experienced blogger, what is some advice you can give to newer bloggers?

  1. Yup, I used to be a ghost follower too. Now that I have a blog I see how awesome it is to get comments :) But, it is like a second job really--lots of time and effort!
