Moving Weekend

This past weekend was moving weekend and I was and still am exhausted! We were all so busy moving things in and around and all over. There were so many people here, the first day can only be described as organized chaos! My dad had his friends come in shifts throughout the day, and the three shifts did three truckloads. My friend Michelle helped more than I really expected her to have to, she's the best! I told her she was only helping move my room, but we ended up packing the kitchen things that had been left out and moving other boxes onto the truck.
It was also my brother's 20th birthday over the weekend (he's getting so old, it makes me sad) so in the midst on unpacking we had a little cake and birthday singing! All the big boxes are unpacked and we mainly just need to decorate, new rugs and curtains, things like that. It's strange because the house has all wooden floors in the main rooms (living room, dining room, kitchen) and all carpet in the bedrooms, which is pretty much opposite from our old house. I feel like the wooden floors make the house a bit chilly, but pretty rugs can fix that.
My room is a huge adjustment for me, and I am just realizing how much stuff and space I had. My storage space has been cut in less than half, so I have been trying to create space over the past few days. I built and painted a cute little nightstand, a bookshelf, and a garment rack. It's definitely helping, but I have a lot more to do. One thing I like about having a new room is I get to decorate. In my old room everything was built in and now I can move things around and add or subtract, a blank canvas. Once I get everything situated I'll have to do a bit of a room tour.
Last night I had my first semi-normal night in this house. My friends Christina and Michelle came over, we game each other really terrible makeovers and watched the Bachelorette. It was so much fun. I have to say even though it's only been a few days I really missed blogging. Each night I thought about it but was too tired to even read the blogs in my Bloglovin' feed. Well, I'm off because soon I'll be heading to another knitting night.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?
