Challenge Accepted! (Blogtember #1)

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

So this month I am doing something pretty special, I am linking up with Jenni from Story of My Life in a blogging challenge called Blogtember. You can follow the link over to her page for the official rules, but basically every weekday there is a prompt and a link up over on her lovely blog. I decided it would be a really fun challenge to see if I could blog every day!

Here is the first prompt:

Describe where or what you come from. The people, the places, and/or the factors that make up who you are.

I come from a close, loving, small family. Most holidays are my parents, little brother, and my grandparents. I love my family so much. My mom loves to cook and watch bad reality tv with me and we run errands together on Saturday mornings. My dad loves to play softball, and when I was younger I played because of him. I have lots of memories of watching his games and we also used to go fishing a lot. My little brother has grown into a super buff guy (he just got certified to be a personal trainer), but I still think of him as that quiet little kid who let me dress him up in my My Size Barbie clothes and we played a lot of Mortal Kombat/Spyro/Crash Bandicoot together. We have loads of weird face contests, usually over Sunday dinner. My grandma, while she may call the house 10 times a day, is the sweetest lady and best shopping buddy. She is a breast cancer survivor, going on 12 years now, and the only person I will willingly wear pink for. My grandpa is amazing. He is an army veteran, and he can tell you so many amazing military stories, he was stationed in Germany for a long time so he also speaks German really well. He has huge special stamp collections that he has given me parts of to keep, and I always think of him when I see them.

Cleveland, Ohio is my hometown and as it stands right now will hopefully always be my town. I have never been one of those people who hates where they grew up and can't wait to run fast enough. Cleveland has a lot of great things going for it; the metroparks, they are just big parks with lots of forest and hiking trails (which I'm just now realizing not everyone is lucky enough to have), tons of museums, great restaurants, fun festivals, so bad but you still have to root for sports teams, beaches, and so much more. Whenever I travel, I always find myself longing for home. I never realize how friendly Clevelanders are compared to other cities (not saying that there are no nice people anywhere else!). I love my city, my family is here, and the only way I would leave would be for an amazing job opportunity, like the Smithsonian or something (hint hint!).

I have a great family and the city I love, but I can't forget my wonderful friends as well. All of my friends, new and old, make me a better person. The knitting girls make me laugh and we have lots of fun and great desserts. My best friends are always there for me through thick and thin and we always have the best times. This summer I've also reconnected with many old friends that I lost contact with simply through being busy with college. It's nice to know that friendships can come back like those years never passed.

These are some of the factors that make me, me. All of these lovely people have shaped me into the person I am, and have taught me so much along the way.

    1. Sorry I added a definition! They're just big parks with lots of forests and hiking/horse trails and picnic areas that are protected by the city so they can't be cut down.

  4. I am in love with your skirt! It's making me sad that I can't pull out all of my plaid skirts to wear this fall (too pregnant now!). And what a lovely insight into your family! I used to play Spyro/Crash Bandicoot with my brother, too. I LOVE those games! So fun. I miss playing them!
