Merry of Each Little Bird That Sings is my very first featured blogger! She runs a sweet blog that features her fabulous vintage style and beautiful family in Louisiana! I would love for you all to head over to her blog after the interview and say hello!
1. So tell us a little bit about Each Little Bird That Sings.
Each Little Bird That Sings is a place where I can share my happy thoughts and some of my experiences from my day to day perspective. I came up with the name of my blog from the scripture in the Bible (Matthew 10: 29-31) where it talks about how people are worth more than money. Since I keep children in my home, that's what I refer to them as, "The Baby Birds".
2. How and why did you start blogging?
I started reading blogs about others' lives, seeing their pictures and found it to be more fascinating than reading books (which I still love to read), but people really intrigue me so the more I read I thought " why not start my own?". So that's how it came to be.
3. You have such great style, where does your love of vintage come from?
My love of vintage comes from being so close to both of my grandmothers I suppose. Two I just like it as it looks so ladylike and feminine. My favorites are the 1940s through 1950s eras.
4. What are some of your favorite places to find great vintage?
A lot of my dresses have been made from older patterns that were my grandmother's. So technically they are not really vintage as the fabric is new, so I call it "vintage inspired". Some of my more authentic vintage clothes I can find at estate sales, thrift stores, or Goodwill.
5. You have such a sweet family. What is a typical day with your loved ones?
Oh my family! I adore my family! A typical day with them would be when we are all together in one place. Very loud but oh so good!
6. If you could go on a trip anywhere, where would you go?
Well that depends... If you are talking about here in the States I would love to visit the state of Idaho. My reason? There are several bloggers that I read about who live there that really sound like nice people. I've always thought it would be fun to meet some of these dear folks, and from the pictures I've seen the country is breathtaking! Now, if I could go overseas I would want to go to Europe and see England, Switzerland, Ireland, and Scotland.
7. What are some of your favorite blogs?
I have quite a few that I visit on a daily basis. This is a tough question! I like so many.
It's a Beautiful Life, Ordinary Homemaker, Linaesdays, Miss Green, boyer family singers, Raising 4 Princesses, Accordion to Kellie, Day by Day , and of course Teapots and Belles! These are a few. I have many more I like to read, but I narrowed it down to my favorites.
8. Do you have any advice for someone who wants to blog or is just starting out?
Hmmm... I'm still a work in progress myself and I find myself still learning new things....I guess my tip for today would be just be who you are, don't pretend to be someone you're not. As my mama always told me "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"! Be genuine.
Thanks again for hosting me on your blog Amia!
I want to thank Merry again for allowing me to interview her! Don't forget to visit her over at Each Little Bird That Sings!
