Coffee has always been a friend of mine. As a teen I was a bit of a coffee snob (and probably still am!), but I would only go to Phoenix Coffee which is a local Cleveland based coffee chain. It's pretty much hipster city, but they play good music and I've known some of the baristas from them working there for a really long time. They also have really awesome drinks and are environmentally friendly.
Starbucks was never on my radar until two years ago. I thought of it as the big chain "the man" trying to bring down the "little guy" (yes, that's dramatic). This stayed my way of thinking until one day I ordered a drink at a Starbucks that actually tasted better than the same drink at Phoenix, and that was an iced chai latte.
The entire summer of 2012 I drank only iced chais and drove around listening to Hunter Hayes on repeat, multiple times a week. I am now a Gold card holder, which means that I buy at least 30 drinks from Starbucks a year to maintain this membership and get free rewards (drink or food) after every 12th drink I buy. I officially went over to the dark side.
Why am I telling you this? Mostly because I miss the sun and when I think of iced coffee I think of summer. I'm currently sitting here with a cup of hazelnut coffee courtesy of my Keurig, which gets just as much love as coffee shop coffee. Have a lovely day!
