|Top: Hey Monea Bottom: Bronze Radio Return|
I missed a day in my new schedule. Oh well. I'm not upset about it, like I said here, this schedule is really just because I like organization, but it'll never kill me to miss a day so it's all good! One good thing that comes out of missing a day is I have lots more to tell you today!
Last week I was the concert queen, I went to two concerts and saw five bands! Tuesday night I went to see Bronze Radio Return and Hey Monea was their opener at a venue called Musica in Akron, Ohio. I've never been to Musica before because so many bands come to the venues in Cleveland that I just have never felt the need to drive down there, but I'm glad I did. It was a smaller venue, which I like because you can really see the band and the experience to me is so much better. I hadn't listened to Bronze Radio Return before the conncert but I wasn't worried because my friend (who is the music librarian at my job) has good music taste. They were really great, I'd put them loosely in the rock/indie rock category, and they had such high energy for a Tuesday night. We ended the night by getting sundaes and shakes at Steak and Shake before the trek home.
Thursday night we went to see Matt Pond, who I actually love! He is doing a 10th anniversary tour for his Emblems album and he played the album straight through, plus a few more songs for the encore. The openers were two local bands that I also like. The first was Tom Evanchuck, who is a folk style singer. I saw him last year at the Brite Winter Festival which is an outdoor winter music festival here in Cleveland, and I have been wanting to see him live again since then! The second opener was Lighthouse and the Whaler and I was super excited to see them. I have just barely missed them so many times at music festivals or finding out about them playing a show a day too late. They did not disappoint, they actually reminded me a bit of one of my favorite bands a few years ago Ra Ra Riot, I think it was the use of different instruments (mandolin, violin, cello) and the singer's voice slightly.
So that was my fun concert week, I'll tell you about the actual weekend tomorrow since I wrote so much! How was your weekend, did you do anything fun?
